About Nick
The Road to Tattooing
Nick Laferriere is an apprentice tattoo artist working out of Humble Tattoo Company, where he brings a lifetime of outdoor experience and artistic craft into every piece he creates.
Before stepping into tattooing, Nick spent over a decade as a professional artist in the outdoor industry, translating wild places and the animals that inhabit them into detailed, expressive works of art. His creative path has always been rooted in nature, shaped not just by observation, but by immersion.
For five years, he worked as a professional fishing guide in the Arctic, living in rhythm with remote landscapes, migrating fish, and long northern days that never quite end. That time left a permanent imprint. You can still feel it in his work. There’s motion in it. Weather in it. A sense that the subject isn’t posed, but alive and passing through.
Now based near Golden, BC, Nick lives on a small acreage with his wife and their two young boys, where they are actively homesteading and rewilding the land. Their days are woven with muddy boots, bird calls, garden beds, and the vibrant return of native plants and wildlife. That connection continues to shape his artistic voice, keeping it honest and evolving.
Working under his brand Stay Wild Ink, Nick specializes in dynamic, nature-inspired tattoos that flow with the body and capture the raw beauty of the natural world. His style leans illustrative, with a focus on movement, storytelling, and form. Whether it’s a fish mid-run, a bird caught in lift, or a plant reaching toward light, each piece is designed to feel alive on the skin.
For Nick, tattooing is more than decoration. It’s a collaboration. A way to carry a piece of the wild with you, wherever you go.
